Keep the record, take it off the live system

Scalenta Archival

Live mailboxes are a working tool, not an archive. Scalenta Archival moves long-term email and communications into a searchable store — so retention is met, storage stays lean, and the record survives staff and platform changes.

Overview

Compliance, contracts and disputes create the same requirement: find a message, years later, in a form you can trust. Keeping everything in live mailboxes approximates this badly — mailboxes grow, costs rise, and access leaves with the employee.

Scalenta Archival captures mail into an independent archive with retention policies and search. Retention rules are agreed with you; exports and access reviews are handled through a documented process.

Scope

What this includes

  • Journal or mailbox-based capture from your mail platform
  • Retention policies aligned to your requirements
  • Full-text search and export tooling
  • Legal-hold support where required
  • Access control and audit logging
  • Independent storage from the live platform

FAQ

Common questions

Is archival the same as backup?
No. Backup exists to restore systems after failure; archival exists to preserve records under retention rules. Different storage, different retention, different purpose — and most organisations need both.
What happens to the archive when we change mail platforms?
It stays. The archive is independent of the live system by design, so a platform migration moves the working mail while the record continues under the same retention rules.
