Move with a plan — then keep it healthy

Cloud Migration & Optimization

A migration is a project with a deadline; staying cost-effective afterwards is a discipline. Scalenta plans and runs workload migrations — and then keeps reviewing sizing, performance and spend so the move keeps making sense.

Overview

Migrations fail quietly: the dependency nobody documented, the licence that does not transfer, the workload that was cheap on old hardware and expensive in the cloud. Planning is not paperwork — it is where migrations are won.

Scalenta starts with assessment, moves in controlled waves with rollback points, and validates each step before the next. After the move, we keep the environment honest: reviewing utilisation, performance and cost rather than assuming the original plan was perfect.

Scope

What this covers

  • Assessment & discovery

A real inventory of workloads, dependencies, integrations and constraints — the list that decides whether a migration succeeds.

  • Migration planning

Waves, sequencing, cutover windows and rollback points, planned around your business calendar.

  • Execution

Lift-and-shift where that is right, re-platforming where it pays — with validation after every stage.

  • Post-migration validation

Functional checks, performance baselines and decommission planning, so the old world actually goes away.

  • Right-sizing & cost review

Utilisation data turned into instance, storage and licensing decisions — regularly, not once.

  • Performance tuning

Bottlenecks chased after the move, while the architecture is still fresh.

Approach

How we work on this

  1. STEP 01

    Discover

Workload inventory, dependency mapping, and an honest view of what should move, what should not, and what should be retired.

  2. STEP 02

    Plan & approve

A wave plan with cutovers, rollbacks and responsibilities — approved by you before anything moves.

  3. STEP 03

    Migrate & optimise

Controlled execution, validation after each wave, then ongoing sizing and cost reviews.

What good looks like

Outcomes we aim for

  • Every migration starts with a discovery inventory, not a quote.
  • Waves with rollback points — not a single high-risk weekend.
  • A written answer to 'should this workload move at all?'
  • Post-move reviews that keep cost and performance honest.

FAQ

Common questions

How much downtime should we expect?
It depends on the workloads and how they are architected. Where downtime can be minimised, we design for it; where a cutover window is unavoidable, we plan and rehearse it with rollback points — and give you the realistic number before you approve the plan.
What if migration is not the right answer?
Then we will say so. Sometimes staying put, a hybrid approach or retiring the workload is the honest recommendation — and it is usually cheaper to hear that during assessment than after a migration.
Do you help with cloud costs?
Yes — right-sizing, storage tiers, committed capacity where it genuinely fits, and regular reviews. We do not promise specific savings percentages; we promise utilisation data and decisions made from it.
